Director's statement:
The Last Passenger began with a simple idea: how an ordinary decision can lead to extraordinary consequences. I was interested in taking something familiar like a bus ride in my city and slowly turning it into something strange and unsettling. Through this story, I wanted to explore themes of self-destruction, guilt, and purification.
What drew me most to the film was the contrast between real life and the surreal. The bus and its passengers exist in a grounded world, but as the journey continues, that reality begins to shift. I wanted the mysterious passenger to feel less like a traditional supernatural figure and more like a force that reveals the characters’ inner flaws.
My approach is to let atmosphere, tension, and visual symbolism carry much of the story rather than relying on direct explanation. The confined space of the bus, the silence of the night, and the gradual descent into the unknown are central to how I imagine the film.
At its core, The Last Passenger is about the consequences of human choices, and the unsettling idea that some actions may demand a reckoning beyond what we understand.
