Director's statement:
My name is Suhaina Zaheer. I am a film graduate from Karachi, Pakistan. My work as a writer and filmmaker has always been rooted in the power of storytelling to move people, challenge perspectives, and create meaningful social impact. Across screenwriting, filmmaking, and socially driven content, I have explored stories that connect emotion with purpose. With a background in filmmaking, I have written short scripts, feature-length screenplays, stories, film analyses, articles, and advertising scripts for digital platforms, each project deepening my understanding of how stories can resonate across different mediums.
A defining moment in my journey was my thesis film, which I wrote, edited, and directed. The film went on to win two awards and was officially selected for the Gandhara Film Festival, reaffirming my belief in cinema as a powerful tool for expression and connection. Beyond film, I have had the privilege of collaborating with UNICEF, scripting their acclaimed polio awareness film and authoring two articles that supported funding initiatives. Those experiences strengthened my commitment to storytelling that serves communities and addresses real-world issues.
For me, direction and writing is about more than visuals—it is about honesty, empathy, and creating spaces where audiences can feel seen. Whether through a film, a campaign, or a written page, I strive to tell stories that remain with people long after they end.
